Some Likely Questions:

Can I get there without a car? Expand

Yes!  You can walk on to the ferry from downtown Seattle and we will have someone on the Bainbridge side to pick you up and shuttle you over to the venue (about an 8 minute drive from the dock).  If you have not already, EMAIL MATT RIGHT NOW if you need one of these pick-ups!

It is also possible to get from Sea-Tac airport to the ferry terminal on public transportation using the light rail, though there is a 10-minute walk from the train station to the terminal.

What is the dress code for the ceremony & reception? Expand

Cocktail attire.

If, like us, you only vaguely know what this means, here's an example. If Matt were attending this wedding, he would wear the suit or blazer+slacks that he usually wears when he attends weddings.

If Natalie were attending this wedding, she would wear a nice dress in which she felt awesome.

The short ceremony will (weather permitting) be outside on the grass, so she would leave those sharp heels at home or save them for dinner and dancing inside.  We don't want anyone sinking into the ground and breaking an ankle!
Should I pack anything specific for this kind of wedding that I might not need at most weddings? Expand

The short ceremony will (hopefully) be outside on the grass, so leave those sharp heels at home or save them for dancing.  We don't want anyone sinking into the ground!

The only other big difference will be the potential outdoor activities. Definitely bring solid walking/hiking shoes to explore the trails (some are paved, some unpaved). Layers like sweatshirts and light jackets will help you enjoy the space in both the day and nighttime when it may get chillier. Hopefully we will be lucky with weather, but it is Seattle after all... so a raincoat is a good idea just in case!

How will meals work over the course of the weekend? Expand

Friday night:  Most guests will need to get dinner before arriving on site -- in Seattle before getting on the ferry or in the adorable town of  Bainbridge Island after the ferry. The only exception to this is the few family members who will attend our rehearsal dinner on-site that evening.

Saturday:  If you lodge on-site Friday night, your breakfast and lunch on Saturday will be included.

Saturday Night:  Dinner will follow the ceremony and precede the reception.  It's included for all of course!

Sunday Morning: Breakfast is included for guests who lodged on-site the night before.

What is the smoking and marijuana policy of the venue and lodging? Expand

All rooms are non-smoking, and IslandWood is technically a non-smoking campus, though they will accommodate smokers at a designated outdoor location.  Please remind us if this is something you'll need to take advantage of, so that we can group y'all together and make it as convenient as possible.

Although private marijuana use is legal in the state of Washington, IslandWood receives federal funding for its education programs and so must prohibit it.
